Incorporated in February 1909, Wake Forest is a progressive town located in northern Wake County and southern Franklin County. Keeping its history a part of its present, the vibrant downtown area is an officially designated historic district with over 100 businesses including several specialty shops and fine restaurants.

Wake County Public School System administers education to students of Wake Forest at six public schools: three elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. There is also one charter school (K-12), a few private schools, and two Montessori schools.
