Some of the things you can do in Wake Forest, NC include visiting the birthplace of Wake Forest College. Or for family fun, visit The Factory where you can have some soccer practice, dance lessons, get a bite to eat or do a little shopping.
The DuBois Center serves as a site for basketball games and other community events. You can also pick up a little historical trivia here. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places.
Hill Ridge Farms is a place to go to experience how life was back in Wake Forest’s earliest days. There’s an 80-food slide, a fort and an Indian teepee. The Farm Animal Corral offers kids and adults a safe, clean learning environment where children can feed live farm animals. There are train rides, hayrides, gemstone panning, and a place for a picnic lunch.
Falls Lake State Recreation Area offers plenty of outdoor recreation of all types. Fishing, boating, and swimming are only a few of the activities you can do on the water. On land, you can enjoy walking, biking, or camping along part of the state's Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
In Cary, NC there are several options for outdoor activities within its parks system. The Greenway master plan provides for over 115 miles of greenways with 50 miles of multi-use trails with 8 miles of sidewalk connectors. Greenways are for daylight use only. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed, and motorized vehicles and horseback riding are not allowed.
Several events are also held throughout the year. For example, a kite festival for kids of all ages is held in Bond’s Park in March. An expert kite flyer is on hand to demonstrate some stunts and give away awards for a variety categories of kite flying for those who choose to participate.
Cary offers summer camps and clinics where kids can participate in extended activities in such areas a tennis, basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer camps. In addition, there is a History camp, a performing arts camp, and also three nature camps offered for pre-school, youth, and teen levels.
Marvelous Music Series is a series of four major musical concerts that bring some of the nation’s top touring professional performers into Cary. The Sertoma Amphitheater is nestled inside Bond’s Park and provides a perfect setting for theatrical performances. The North Carolina Symphony performs its annual Summerfest series at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park.
